Boko Haram May Not Be Defeated

The Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District, Ishaku Elisha Abbo, has taken exception to any hindsight of winning the war against insurgency in Nigeria, saying that Boko Haram fighters cannot be defeated anytime soon.

Abbo was speaking with us on Wednesday in Abuja against the backdrop of security issues at the front burner in the Senate as a result of surges of attacks on Nigeria citizens in the past two weeks.

He explained that the current approach in tackling Boko Haram insurgents by the Nigerian government was unworkable, adding that “the approach was framed for Boko Haram to last forever.”

The lawmaker said the number of Nigeria Soldiers fighting Boko Haram insurgents were grossly inadequate compared to the number of insurgents while expressing sadness that the Nigeria Military was losing its servicemen in numbers.

He said the government has the responsibility of bringing soldiers back from the war front to reunite with their families and not to get them killed in the war front.

His words, “The current arrangement in the fight against Boko Haram, whether intentionally or accidentally is framed to last forever.

“We cannot win this war the way it is going. How do we win the war when the insurgents are in their camps, and we all know the location of Sambisa forest, we all know the terrain, we all know the borders.

“We wait for Boko Haram to come and attack us, then, we repel the attack and we are not taking the fight to them wherever they are to hunt them out. I think some people are not sincere.”

He further questioned the government’s sincerity in the prosecution of Boko Haram fighters in court, stressing that criminals have been emboldened in joining them.

“From the former President Goodluck Jonathan to President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime, I don’t know how many captured Boko Haram insurgents have been prosecuted successfully by government.

“If Boko Haram fighters have not been apprehended, what stop others from joining the gangs. Now, things have gotten out of hand and I say if there is no change to the current approach, Nigerians should forget it”, the lawmaker insisted.”

He revealed that lawmakers will rework laws on the military, saying that there was no proper coordination among the service officers like those of other jurisdictions.

Abbo wondered what the office of the Chief of Defense Staff doing in the height of insecurity in Nigeria.

“The office of the Chief of Defense Staff, I don’t know what he is doing in that office, because there is no control under him.

“In the United States of America, it is the office of the Chief of Defense Staff that heads the Joint Service Chiefs, the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force.

“Here in Nigeria, the Army is on its own, Navy is on its own, and also the Air Force and the Chief of Defense Staff has a big office doing nothing,” he maintained.

Awazi OAP & Ex-Staff Calls Out Soundcity Over Unpaid Salaries And Sexual Harassment

Published

The OAPs, Awazi and Mary have slammed “Soundcity” over unpaid salaries and alleged sexual harassment

The ladies took to Twitter to reveal the dirty doings of the popular media house. According to them, Soundcity has been owing staff for several years and have refused to pay.

They added that any staff that dares query the company over the unpaid salary gets fired.

Mary wrote,  So ALL the OAPs that work at CMA (@Soundcity985FM and @Urban96FM ) went on a silent strike due to MNTHS of unpaid salaries but instead of settling things amicably, THREE of them were singled out and fired as a lesson to the others for daring to demand what is due to them.

This is not an issue that started today, It has actually been going on for YEARS and now that they’ve had enough, some of them get fired as a way of silencing the rest. And guess what? It worked!

This has to be the highest form of bullying I have ever seen. You owe your staff for MONTHS without any form of explanation/communication but go on to organize concert(S) and an award show and expect them to fold their arms and do nothing? Come on! These are the issues.

Awazi wrote Lol this is not a joke. Great platform aside Soundcity is easily the worst place I’ve ever worked in my life and this is taking unpaid internships into consideration.

The OAPs here are superheroes yet there constantly treated like shit. Burn the whole system to the fucking ground! In the last 8 months, so many people have asked me why I left soundcity and “threw away such a great opportunity”

LOL y’all don’t know the half of it. At the time I left I knew I was much better unemployed than working under the horrible conditions I was subjected to at soundcity.

Won’t even get deep into the details of things but imagine being for up to 5 months at a time then having to sit through some sort of interrogation with “HR” because you sent an insanely polite email asking for info on why you haven’t been paid.

This happened to @ilowitdfloEven going to pee on this place is a problem! I had to leave the entire building in the middle of my show sometimes to find a decent bathroom to pee in. Then sexual harassment ooo boy the sexual harassment in this place is on steroids! My God

Then there’s the fact that nothing works in this place! I’m talking microphone issues, headphones, air conditioning
Oh don’t get me started on the constant bullying and systemic attempts to intimidate anyone that has any kind of opinion or expectation for things to be done right
