Manchester City midfielder, Rodri has said it is time for a Spanish player to win the Ballon d’Or again.
None of Rodri’s compatriots have won the prestigious individual award since Barcelona legend Luis Suárez in 1960.
On Sunday, La Roja edged England 2-1 to win the Euro 2024.
Rodri was named Player of the Tournament, with the young player award going to Lamine Yamal.
When asked about his chances of winning the Ballon d’Or, Rodri said: “I’m going to be honest, I would like for a Spaniard to win it, I don’t care who. It would be great.
“I’ve heard that [Real Madrid’s Dani] Carvajal also deserves it. From an individual standpoint, I’m very proud of what I am doing and the recognition I’m getting.”
